Beach
Blast
The Annual Beach
Blast takes
place in
Shallowford
Square on the
third Saturday
in June. The
event begins at
3 p.m. and the
bands performing
in 2007 include
Billy Scott and
the Prophets and
the Embers.
Independence
Day Celebration
The Town
sponsors the
annual July 4th
celebration at
Shallowford
Square, complete
with a live band
and fireworks.
Lewisville
Idol Competition
The Lewisville
Idol Competition
was started in
2005 as an
events intended
to appeal to
young people. In
2007, the
competition will
be Friday, June
8 at 6 p.m.
There are spaces
for 15
contestants, and
the applications
will be
available
beginning March
5 at Town Hall.
Contestants must
be between the
ages of 13 and
18. Cash prizes
and trophies
will be awarded.
Like all town
events at the
square, there is
no charge. For

Lewisville
Loop 12K
The Lewisville
Loop 12K takes
place in the
spring, and the
race begins at
Shallowford
Square. In 2007
the race is
being moved to
April 28 to
coincide with
the town's Old
Fashion Family
Picnic. The race
will begin at
noon and the
picnic at 3 p.m.

Recycling
Days
The Lewisville
Recycling
Committee
sponsors several
Recycling Days a
year at
Lewisville
Elementary
School. Local
residents are
able to bring
items not
normally
collected at
curbside such as
cardboard,
batteries and
fluorescent
bulbs. Dates for
these events are
advertised in
the town’s
newsletter. In
addition, the
Committee
sponsors bulky
item collection
days.
Starlight
Movie Nites
The Parks and
Recreation
Department
sponsors free
movies in
Shallowford
Square between
the months of
April and
October. The
movies are on
Friday nights
and begin at
dark. This
year's movies
will include
"Happy Feet"
(April 28);
"Angels in the
Outfield" (May
18); "ET" (July
13); "Open
Season" (August
10); "Nacho
Libro"
(September 14-
Teen Night); and
"Monster House"
(October 5).
Outdoor
Theatre
The town, in
conjunction with
the West Side
Civic Theatre,
produces two
musicals at
Shallowford
Square each
year. The plays
are performed in
June and
September. The
2007 productions
will be "Seussical"
in June and
"Jesus Christ
Superstar" in
September.
Old Fashion
Family Picnic in
the Park
The town
sponsors a
family picnic in
the park at
Shallowford
Square with
food, games and
entertainment.
The 2007 event
will be
Saturday, April
28 from 3 until
dark, when the
first Starlight
Movie of the
season will be
shown.
Bluegrass
Special
The town Parks
and Recreation
Department
sponsors a
Bluegrass
Special at
Shallowford
Square in
August,
featuring
bluegrass bands.
The event is
hosted by the
Lewisville Area
Arts Council.
Halloween
Party for
Children
The town hosts a
Halloween Party
for Children in
October with
games and
activities. This
event takes
place in
Shallowford
Square.
